Here are some of the fan-fics that I've read and gladly recommend over the years... Most of them are novel-length or at least about 20, 000 words and above. I read Frerard, Destiel and Snarry mostly. Still in the process of updating this.... I'll gladly appreciate any contributions :)

Frerard (Frank Iero/Gerard Way)
The Unholyverse by
bexless (~187 000 words)
This series was the first ever large-scale bandom fic that I read. One of the best fics I've ever read, very fascinating. Kept me glued to my seat for ages. Lovely exploration of religious themes. The idea of Priest!Gerard was so sexy and intriguing.
Warnings: Religion, death, pain, blood, torture.
I Have Been All Things Unholy (R)
Summary: “He thinks I have stigmata,” Frank said, because what the fucking hell, it couldn’t get any worse. He might as well just lay it out. “Oh, well,” said Brian into his hands. “Of course.”
Staring Through the Demons (R)
Summary: Pete and Patrick were still looking expectant, so Mikey said, “So we’re a group of...traveling...personal grooming experts. I guess.” Patrick looked at Gerard. “And their priest.” “We’re very spiritual,” Ray mumbled.
Heaven Help Us (NC-17)
Summary: "It would seem," the Cardinal finished, "that Father Way's body has disappeared." There was a silence. Eventually Bob said, "What the fuck?" "Yes," said the Cardinal. "Quite."
During Working Hours (G)
Summary: A little domesticy post-trilogy snip :)
Turning Point (R)
Summary: Set some time after Heaven Help Us. Gerard's point of view.
A Splitting of the Mind (R) by shoved2agree (~140, 000 words)
I felt so mind-fucked by the end of the fic I really felt like smashing my head against the wall. I don't really like reading stories from the 1st person's POV, but I persisted and this fic turned out to be pretty fucking amazing. I tried to tell my boyfriend what an interesting read it was and even he could tell how much i loved it. Really good ending though... if you enjoy endings that make you think..and curse and swear all at the same time.. And I promise you you'll hate the number 24 at the end of the fic. Seriously.
Warnings: Rape themes, schizophrenia, adult themes, sex, mental illness, death
Summary: Gerard Way sees the world differently. Alone and institutionalised, Gerard claims that he is being hunted, and that his mind holds the key to existence. Does Gerard really hold such a powerful secret? Or is he just insane like everyone else in the institution? The Anatomy of a Fall (NC-17) by novembersmith (~107,500 words)
This fic made me go "Awwww". Really sweet, funny and moving. One of those high school AUs cliches where Gerard moves to a new town and meets Frank.
Warnings: Violence, homophobia, character death
Summary: The unholy union of a high school AU and a ghost story. Gerard's life takes a strange turn when his family moves to a small town in Vermont and he discovers the locals aren't all what they seem to be. Also includes: unexpected nature walks, murder, pining, improper treatment of crime scenes, a number of bone-related puns, high school bullies, and a short-range shrub named Ferdinand.
The Life and Lies of Gerard Way (R) by maybegasoline (~32, 800 words)
Oh dammit where the hell do I begin. The author's meticulous attention to detail is brilliant and kept as close to canon as possible, so close that everything came to life and the events that occurred in the future later on flowed and felt so believable and real. This was really amazing to read, and was so tragically heartbreaking at the end.
Warnings: Mentions of: Addiction, self-harm, character death
Summary: Have you ever wondered what dirty secrets Gerard Way may have kept inside all these years? Have you ever thought that perhaps there lay more than just love behind his marriage to Lindsey Ballato? Have you ever seen the glances Way used to shoot his guitarist, and wondered what it might mean? Find out the truth about everything, and get to know what really went on behind the scenes at all those My Chemical Romance shows! It begins in New Jersey, but where does it end? Read the upcoming biography ‘The Life And Lies Of Gerard Way’ to find out, to be released in September, 2057. Get your copy soon at a bookstore near you!
Snarry (Severus Snape/Harry Potter; Harry Potter Series)
The Tea Series by Telanu (~371, 000 words)
If fandoms had mothers, this would be one of them. If you haven't read any Snarry fic at all, then you should probably start with this. It starts off rather sweet, and builds up to a rather climatic but beautiful end.
Warnings: Angst, chan, slash, sex, violence, disturbing imagery
A Most Disquieting Tea (PG-13)
Summary: After the events in PoA, Dumbledore has Snape in for a little chat.
Almost at Times, The Fool (PG-13)

Summary: Sequel to "Like A Glass," or, What Harry Did On His Summer Vacation. Short.

Summary: The (shorter, darker) sequel to A Wizard Song. Separated from Snape by Dumbledore, Harry spends the summer with Sirius.
Fire By Fire (NC-17)
Summary: The final story in the "Tea" series. Harry is possessed by the Furies and intent on destroying Voldemort. Will he save the wizarding world, or will someone have to save him?
Crumbling Pedestral (PG-13) by Shivani (~170,000 words)
This was the first Founders/time travel fic i read, and it piqued my interest in searching for more Founders fic. Unfortunately, I think this fic rather spoilt my tastes for Founder fic...I can't find one that I particularly like now. Harry is kinda all super-powery and Slytherin in here...Manipulative and clever. Well, of cause he is... You'll understand if you read it.
Warnings: Slash, brief het, time travel, the founders, moderate super!Harry, identity hopping, clichés.
Summary: Harry’s date with Voldemort at the conclusion of the Triwizard tournament didn’t go quite as planned. Fate steps in with a ‘unique’ opportunity, offering Harry the chance to live and mature in the past. For a while, anyway. PS-OotP (no HBP details)
The Apple Tree (R) by Philo (~294 000 words)
One of the few novel-length fics that I actually re-read!! Really awesome read. Features Harry with amazing powers here. Harry's more confident here, quite different from canon. I love the interaction between Harry and Snape in this story. This is one of the few fics where I feel Snape has been captured perfectly. His reaction when betrayed etc... Angtsy fic at times, and some parts really made me tear. Damn amazing read which made me cry and laugh!
Warnings: Violence, Adult Language, Sexual Situations, Under 18, Contains Het Sex, Contains Slash Sex
Summary: Harry returns for his seventh year determined to change the status quo. A long (but completed!) tale of romance, betrayal, initiative and derring do!
The Snidget (NC-17) by Acidburn and Sinick (~34, 000 words)
This fic is just so freaking adorable! Harry as an Snidget animagus... Featherbrain!
Warnings: Character death, violence, swearing
Summary: After the Dark Lord's victory, Headmaster Snape is living under a sword's edge, when hope flies in past his shields.
Cambiare Podentes: Invocare (R) by Jordan Grant (~303, 000 words)
Very very hot. One of the kinkiest fic i have ever read.
Warnings: Angst, drama, first time, addiction/drug use, ambigous consent, dom/sub relationship, hurt/comfort, non-con, violence/torture
Summary: A new prophecy comes to light, one that promises death for Harry Potter and enslavement for the wizarding world, unless Harry himself consents to being enslaved--irrevocably and for life--to Severus Snape.
Cambiare Podentes: Madurare (R) by Jordan Grant (~319, 000 words)
Very very hot. One of the kinkiest fic i have ever read.
Warnings: Partner betrayal, addiction/drug use, ambigous consent, dom/sub relationship, hurt/comfort
Summary: Now that Harry has been bound in slavery, how will he and Severus mature the spell to full completion? And how will they deal with the consequences of irrevocable enslavement? The second volume and conclusion to Cambiare Podentes: Invocare.
A Time to Change (NC-17) by Sansa (~78, 000 words)
Another lovely time travel fic where Harry goes back to the Marauders era. I really loved the exploration of Severus's relationship with the rest of the Marauders. Harry plays an important role in the moulding of events that lead to the defeat of Lord Voldemort.
Summary: Harry wishes he was never the Boy-Who-Lived and his wish is granted. Now he has to bear the consequences, namely sacrificing everything he has gained in order to save his world. He finds love along the way, but will it be snatched away from him just like everything else?
The Mirror of Maybe (NC-17) by Midnight Blue (~220, 000 words)
One of the cornerstones of the Snarry fandom, this story is known to be one of the most frustrating WIPs in existence, but still very much worth reading. Written in 2002 with a total of 21 chapters, The Mirror of Maybe has one of the most fascinating plots ever. I like that this is one of the few stories where Argus Filch's potential role in the war is addressed, and not downplayed or non-existent like in many fics. Superpower! Harry is believable and very compelling.
Warnings: Dead/WIP, Superpower! Harry
Summary: Harry Potter is sucked into a mirror and experiences life in the mirror. Returned to his own world, Harry realises that he is trapped in his sixteen year old body. Using his new magic, 28 year old War Mage Harry Potter returns to Hogwarts as a DADA teacher determined to change the events of what he experienced in the mirror... and to court his lover again.
No Way Back (NC-17) by Meri (~77, 000 words)
This has the same premise as the Mirror of Maybe by Midnight Blue. Anyway, this was a lovely fic. Harry is sucked into a mirror for twenty minutes and ends up living in an alternate universe for twenty years... He comes back as a thirty-five year old individual stuck in the body of a fifteen year old. Horrified by the events that has occurred in the mirror, Harry sets out to try to change whatever is yet to come... Very intriguing to read.
Summary: At the end of fifth year, Harry falls into a mirror and is forever changed by the experience.
The Fourth Deathly Hallow (PG-13) by Gingertart (56, 299 words)
After the war, Draco Malfoy and Harry Potter return to the Shrieking Shack to bury Snape - only to discover that the Professor is still alive, and they are transported back in time to 1895, into the company of John Watson and Sherlock Holmes. Much adventure and mystery here, except that the death of the villian was rather anti-climatic.
Warnings: Crossover with Sherlock Holmes
Summary: From the private journal of John. H. Watson MD; not intended for publication. Being an account of the strange case of the Fourth Deathly Hallow; in which Dr John H. Watson and Mr Sherlock Holmes save a life, discover the true secret of Professor Moriarty, unravel a time loop or two, encounter a femme fatale, imbibe potions, break into and out of a wizarding mansion, hide in a male brothel, go shopping, track down a magical artefact, almost attend a ritual sacrifice, fail to be Obliviated and totally ignore the International Statute of Wizarding Secrecy of 1692, all in the company of a lank-haired, irascible but secretly besotted schoolmaster, a bemused aristocrat and an increasingly perceptive and enamoured young hero.
Rook Castling Kingside (NC-17) by WhiteCotton (35, 500 words)
I love the concept of the chess game - with Dumbledore as a brilliant manipulator, and Harry and Severus as his pawns.
Warnings: Underage kissing
Summary: Severus knows he is going to die in the war and is more than happy to oblige. Too long he has been the rook to Dumbledore’s queen, protector of Harry Potter – the king. Now he yearns only for peace. As the war with the Dark Lord intensifies, he makes his plans and indulges in recollection.
The Courtship of Harry Potter (NC-17) by Diana Williams (37, 232 words)
A sweet and romantic fic where Severus Snape courts Harry Potter based on the Erastes Rites, a form of mentor/protege system. The process of the courtship was very exciting to read, especially the gifts where the Erastes has to gift to Harry....
Warnings: Chan 16-18
Summary: Another teacher's interest in Harry Potter forces a reluctant Snape to compete for the young man affections.
A Convenient Marriage (NC-17) by Diana Williams (23,842 words)
Interesting how the story begins with Sirius Black begging Severus Snape to marry Harry Potter! Was hooked from the beginning. Love the way the author wrote about the dueling that Severus does for Harry! Very romantic, yet not too corny *stamp of approval*
Summary: Sometimes a marriage of convenience can become so much more...
Tempus Fugit Praeterhãc (NC-17) by Quill Lumos (92, 005 words)
The Harry in this fic is a little too sub for my liking but I like how Severus Snape is put out of his misconceptions about Harry Potter being a spoilt brat by using Harry's Invisibility Cloak and observing Harry for a day. I loved the background of the story too, in Ancient Rome. It all links up nicely to the end, and you'll applaud the brilliance of the author at wrapping the story up to make sense in the paradox of time.
Warnings: Chan 16-18
Summary: Based on the amusing idea on the US cover of Deathly Hallows. Harry's Horcrux hunt leads him to Rome. However, he hadn't expected the sudden trip back through time thanks to a booby-trapped Diadem, Neither had Severus Snape, who gets dragged into the backlash of the spell. Now they're both stuck in the past, what are they going to do? Together they struggle to earn a living and have to learn to survive, whilst continuing to search for a way home.
Beyond Words (NC-17) by Steppenwoelfin (67,395 words)
It's quite an interesting take on the post-war Harry, where he suffers from the aftermath of the war. Dumbledore places Harry under the charge of Severus Snape to learn Occlumency, Wandless magic, Sign language, and Telepathy to help Harry cope with his new situation and allow him to take on the post of the DADA position in Hogwarts. The tension that first exists between the two is believable and poignant, and rather distressing at first. However, it blooms off very nicely into romance, and even has Snape learning computers from Harry. A good and romantic read.
Summary: When Voldemort dies, he curses Harry to become mute. Dumbledore assigns Severus Snape to teach Harry how to overcome this obstacle. Initial hate yields to increasing understanding, respect and attraction between the two.
Union of Doom (NC-17) by Steppenwoelfin (88, 839 words)
This fic is another brilliant work by Steppenwoelfin. The tension, frustration and anger at the beginning of the fic was so intense that I was gritting my teeth at the many harsh words exchanged and events that happened between Harry and Severus. Then it gradually got better as they got to know each other, and at times, it was really sweet. And the idea of Severus and Harry in a karaoke bar is simply just weird... but somehow the author manages to pull it off really nicely. There's quite alot of humourous parts in the fic too that had me bursting out in laughter.
Summary: Set after Harry's 7th year, omits HPB and DH. Harry and Severus are forced to marry each other in order to defy Voldemort. Times become even darker for the two wizards...but is there still hope in spite of all?
The Paradox of Existence (NC-17) by Dragon Light (~114, 000 words)
Harry Potter takes on the identity of Octavian Tyler, DADA professor and goes back in time into the Marauders' era to play a role in translating certain information for the Order of the Phoenix. 16 year old Severus Snape is convinced that he is in love with Octavian. The struggle Harry goes to to fend off the advances from the 16 year old Snape while trying to remain faithful to his lover in the future is quite funny but can get rather angtsy at times. I loved the part about the pink chalk. The way Octavian affects the timeline, and plays a part in his own existence is fascinating to read.
Warnings: Chan 16
Summary: On Assignment for Dumbledore, in the past, Harry sees his lover from a new perspective, that of a professor.
When Fate Steps In (R) by the_minx_17 (~20, 000 words)
Severus Snape is thrown into an alternate universe whereby Lily Potter is still alive, and Harry is engaged to him! I love the way the cynical Severus gradually falls in love with a loving Harry. It's quite ingenious the way the author ends the piece, I loved the twist when Severus realises what has brought him into this alternate universe.
Warnings: Alternate universe
Summary: Sometimes the best wishes are the ones that sneak up on you.
Onward into The Breach (NC-17) by QueenBoadicea (~79, 426 words)
The companion piece to When Fate Steps In, it appears that the author has assumed that there has been a swap between the Severus(s) of the two different realities and Severus Snape is torn away from his loving fiance and thrown into an alternate reality where his best friend Lily is dead and his fiance hates him. Severus seeks out Harry Potter who is on the hunt for Horcruxes, and promises to protect him. The relationship between the two blossoms.
Warnings: Ambiguous consent, Chan 16-18, Character death, Hurt/Comfort, Mentoring fic
Summary: Happy Severus finds himself in a terrible hellish world, one in which his fiancé hates him and is in mortal danger. This is the companion piece to When Fate Steps In by the_minx_17.
A Nick in Time (PG-13) by Tira Nog (52, 821 words)
This was a truly beautiful piece. Harry and Severus are brought back to their seven year old selves, and learn to become friends. The interaction between them, Ron and Hermione who adopt them, is really sweet and believable. Severus discovers that he has feelings for a certain individual at the end...
Warnings: Hurt/comfort, Violence/torture
Summary: Harry Potter and Severus Snape awake to an unusual development on Boxing Day.
Growing Pains (NC-17) by Tira Nog (151, 157 words)
"I don't need your commiserations," Harry said. "I need your help." ...Severus didn't know how to respond at first, but after a second's thought, he asked, "Do you think it's wise to discuss this in front of four witnesses?" "What?" Harry blinked, but at least he seemed confused now rather than simmering. "When Trelawney and Miller are discovered with their throats slit, we will now be the prime suspects," Severus informed. This was really funny and sweet, wonderful conclusion to A Nick in Time..
Warnings: Hurt/comfort, Rimming
Summary: Story is a sequel to A Nick In Time. Harry Potter and Severus Snape attempt to adjust to the changes in their lives and see if there is any place for the friendship they found as children.
All Heaven's Glory (NC-17) by carlinelamb (45, 500 words)
Angtsy fic with a little unrequited love on Harry's part. I loved how Severus is so obsessed with loving somone who he could not have instead of someone he had already.
Warnings: AU, Romance, Mpreg, Hermaphrodite, Bottom!Snape, Bottom!Harry, Character Death - not Snape or Harry.
Summary: Severus would do what a Slytherin did best. He would scheme and plot to ensure that in the end he would get what he was after.
Destiel (Castiel/Dean; Supernatural)
Cas + Dean 4Ever (NC-17) by tuesdayfic (~10,704 words)
Alright so this isn't novel length or more than 20, 000 words. BUT THIS. IS FULL OF WIN. It's my cheer-me-up-fic when I'm down. I'm not joking. It's so hilariously cute, and sweet at the same time. I would smother the author if i knew her personally with kisses and hugs.
Summary: Dean finds a diary that is like the worst "Do you like me, y/n?" letter in history, Sam helps Castiel with one of the most ill-conceived plans ever, and Ruby is highly amused by everything. Sam/Ruby
The (Mostly Accidental) Courtship of Dean Winchester by tuesdayfic (~11,101 words)
Castiel is such a BAMF in here. I love him. As usual, a wonderful fic by tuesdayfic. "Castiel was the boyfriend who'd rather have sex than talk about his feelings. Dean was unaccountably disappointed and never, ever going to let anyone know." - Seriously. Any fic that has this line in it is worth reading.
Warnings: Consent issues having to do with marriage (but not sex), brief references to violence and gore
Summary: Angelic marriage rites were never intended to go quite like this.
And I Will Walk On Water (NC-17) by tracy (~122,600 words)
One of the very first fics I read for this pairing. Hurt/comfort fic. My heart ached so much for Castiel in this fic. He was just so lost and so broken and so... Sigh. So much angst!! Very good read.
Warnings: Rape/torture, hurt/comfort
Summary: In which Dean discovers that the archangels didn't finish their job after all, and that demons picked up where they left off.
The Melting Verse (NC-17) by strangeandcharm (~110, 000 words)
Another one of those angsty fics. I simply love the interaction between BAMF!Castiel and Dean in this verse. And the porn *le sigh* is just amazing. Castiel has an amazing ability to rearrange famous landmarks while in the throes of passion... *grin*
Warnings: Angel!porn, whump, angst, action, wing!porn and occasional soppiness
